Been on the look out for a decent wool flat cap for a while and found Walker and Hawkes through searching for wax jackets. Gave the hats a go (also a wax cotton) and the quality of this one is fantastic. Feels sturdy, the wool weave is chunky and thick as you’d expect of Harris tweed and the interior lining is great. I have a big head, around 62/63cm and the 3XL fits nicely, not too tight but not loose. Absolutely worth the cost in my mind and the gunmetal is a lovely dark grey

This is a very good quality cap, perfect fit and very comfortable but I ordered a charcoal colour and what I received, though all the manufacturers labeling said charcoal, was more of a brownish colour and nothing like the cap shown in the advertising. Someone in the labeling department of the manufacturer needs to get their eyes tested.

Feels decent in the hands although doesn’t quite have the structure of some of my other flat caps, so can feel a bit soft. Now, that means it is a bit more pocketable, and doesn’t appear to hold creases, it also means the side structure is a little baggier than I normally wear due to the lack of rigidity. The peak is well designed and naturally curved giving a pleasing profile. I have worn it in transitional weather and in warmer days my scalp didn’t sweat in it but it was still warm in cooler days. One thing I didn’t expect but I’m really quite glad of as a bald man is the back of the cap is cut to cover more of the back of the head, this makes it a great transitional cap and assures that if worn with a scarf in later autumn it means there will be no chilly gap at the back if the head. Altogether I’m very pleased with the hat, it wears comfortably and looks good, time will tell how durable it is.

I have a cotton newsboy for summer. I thought I would try for something warmer this fall and winter. I do own several fur felt brim hats, but they are heavy. I love this flat cap! It is true to size. The color coordinates with well with what I wear. The quilted lining in conjunction with the virgin wool outter appears adequate for around town warmth. This flat cap is comfortably lightweight. For me, the value is with the quality of material and workmanship.
